Sun+ £1 Subscription for £20 Amazon voucher con

Hello, it would appear that the offer that The Sun will have recently used in order to have sold a number of subscriptions in the last Month has been sold on false pretences that you will receive a £20 Amazon Voucher in return for paying only £1 for an introductory period (one Month) after which you will pay full subscription. The only stated requirement was that subscriptions cancelled within 14 days would not be eligible to receive the voucher that would be issued prior to the end of the introductory period. Having enquired with the Sun as to when the voucher will be issued they have since stated that it should be with customers on the date that the introductory period will have lapsed (thus charging the customer an additional full Month's subscription - approx £9), reducing by half the originally advertised offer, but for no discernible reason other than a cynical attempt to take more money from subscribers who may accept the additional charge on the basis that there is still value (albeit vastly reduced) in the deal. I have pointed out what is wrong with this to their customer advisers and they are wrongly hiding behind terms and conditions of the offer that merely provide a framework for them to vary the terms of the offer should circumstances dictate, as opposed to expecting (un communicated) changes to the terms to be accepted as a fait accomplis by the customer. This is unfair and I'm sure is happening in the retail world more often than many realise.

I signed up when they were offering a £10 primark gift card. Cancelled 7 days later still got my gift card, two free cinema tickets and a lipgloss. Best £1 i've ever spent!

I was told that as I have made multiple accounts I would not be entitled to a voucher

I have only made one account AND was told by live chat (when i first tried to cancel) that I had to stay into the second (full paying month) to get the voucher, waste of £10!

Rude customer service, tried to get me to phone an 0800 number to get a cancellation (when i used their link to live chat to cancel), didn't care that it costs money from a mobile!

    livid! :/

Completely agree. I contacted them today about a payment which was incorrectly taken and they were so rude from the offset. After a long conversation of their pathetic excuses, they were keen to disappear as soon as Hillsborough was mentioned...

They were right. Using the death of 96 people as a stick to beat a live chat operator with is completely innappropriate, and not at all relevant to the situation you were in. If they were that rude to you why didn't you just end the chat?

People who genuinely feel that strongly would not even think about signing up in the first place.

They were right. You didn't have any moral viewpoint when you signed up for a subscription. To take one now suggests that you are in fact the one exploiting the Hillsborough tragedy for your own ends. Pretty despicable to me.

Hahaha. He's now deleted his post after being outed as a hypocrite.

" I contacted them today about a payment which was incorrectly taken"

Which doesn't at all go with "I would never give you a penny of my money...Hillsborough..."

    What a moron.
