Barlaycard unable to give PPI policy number

Hi,
I have PPI complaints to make for two Barclaycards. However Barclaycard can only give me the policy number of one of them (which was cancelled in 2010).
Despite hours on the phone they have been unable to give me a policy number for the PPI I still pay for every month.
I've spoken to 4 departments including Barclays insurance underwriters in Dublin (who give me the policy number of the cancelled PPI).
Could I conclude that I'm paying for something that doesn't exist? Would that be a valid/upholdable reason for my complaint?
I want to cancel the PPI because it's costing me about £70/month at the moment. I understand that not cancelling it makes it seem like I still want it but I'm worried that by cancelling it might make it even more difficult to trace in the future. Any thoughts?
Thanks and regards

Why did you not simply request that the PPI currently being charged on your credit card be cancelled rather than seeking the policy number? Do this in writing and you'll have documentary proof that you've done so.
You cannot make a mis-selling complaint simply based on the failure of someone at the Bank to provide a policy number..0 -

No.
Most card based PPI policies are bulk arranged and do not have an individual policy number but use the number of the credit card or personal loan.I want to cancel the PPI because it's costing me about £70/month at the moment. Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Initially I was just asking for policy number as part of the information gathering to make sure I had the facts right about the two different policies (along with start date etc) before I did either complaint.
I was going to complain because I didn't ask for the PPI but just wondered if not being able to provide a policy number actually meant that the policy doesn't exists and that would be a stronger complaint.

Ok, you do have a very weak complaint as it is an unprovable allegation. However, it doesnt get stronger because it doesnt have an individual policy number. You could do with a stronger reason for complaint but that is not it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
