Can you put gravel on top of concrete?

Have a yard/garden that i want to look better and thought I'd lay either gravel or gravel/flags on top of where there's concrete now. Would that cause any drainage problems or would I have to break up and remove the concrete before laying down gravel/flags?

If you put gravel straight on top of the concrete and you walk on it, it will move around so you'll have to spend time raking it level again. It might be a bit slippery as well, unless you put a thick layer of gravel down.0

As above. Gravel will move around and if it is on a slope it will all end up at the bottom. I think you will need to put a sub-base down first (ie lots of fines) to hold it in place. Then of course you will get weeds.
You might be able to lay flags on top with a good sand base but take some good advice on that.
Personally I wouldn't be breaking up the concrete, you just never know when it might come in handy.0 -
i had a concrete side access down the side of my house, and round the back, as long as its got a border to stop the gravel moving-it will be fine. mines been down ten years.0

This. Ours was down for several years and I assume it still is...
As long as it's contained at the edges it should be fine.0 -
As long as it is flat and not on a slope.0
