Lots of info on Tripadvisor plus a forum to ask any questions:

I went last year with my teenage daughter and loved it, would love to go back.0

Went there last summer. Stayed in the EuroSalou Hotel AI for 1 week. Not a bad hotel but stayed in better.
There is a bus service which goes all around the area and there are lots all day.
Not a place I would go back to but my sister loves it. Depends on what you want I suppose.
Read reviews on tripadvisor from a cross section of dates and this tends to give you an idea.0 -
For a family holiday you probably won't go far wrong in Salou, but I suppose it all depends on what you like to do as a family.
It's a biggish resort with a huge range of bars, shops and restaurants etc. Most of them cater for Brits so you'll see plenty of British bars with full english breakfasts and entertainment etc. There's also a good amount of visitors from Holland, Germany and Russia too so it's not all British!
The beach is huge, and is mainly sandy. There's plenty of sunloungers etc and there's also the neighbouring resorts of La Pineda and Cambrils that have huge long beaches too if you fancy a change. (Both around 15mins on the bus from Central Salou).
There's PortAventura theme park and waterpark which is fantastic for kids. I've been here three times now and would still go back. There's lots of great rides, shows and lots of other stuff going on for the kids.
Nightlife is lively but mainly geared towards families. As I say it is a busy resort if you are there in the height of summer so if you want something a little more laidback but still great for families I would suggest Cambrils or La Pineda which are just next door to Salou.
Barcelona is only an hour away and easy to get to for a day trip, as is Tarragona. There's plenty of other days out too like boat trips, jeep safaris etc.Lea

A fabulous beach and the best theme park in Europe.0

Its ok but prefer La Pineda, about 20 mins outside Salou. It was a bit busy for me tbh but then my kids are only little.x0

I agree with the majority of posts that Salou is a nice play to stay especially with children BUT because of Port Aventurra it is more expensive than some of the other towns up and down the coast.0
