Executor bank account

My uncle died a year ago and I was joint executor with my aunt for his estate. We recovered all funds from his accounts into an executor bank account, then paid all beneficiaries on his will from this account. The remainder of the money in the account was then due to be passed to my aunt, according to the will.

However, my aunt did not really want the money so the money stayed in the executor account. Sadly my aunt has now passed away.

Obviously, this money is now considered to be part of my aunt's estate, but I am just wondering if I am still able to write cheques from this account, to pay, for example, any outstanding bills my aunt had. Or should the account now be considered frozen?

Yes, I am sole executor for my aunt.

Also, just to confirm, for my uncle's executor account, this was set up so that EITHER myself OR my aunt could sign the cheques.

Should be no problem, might as well see if you can use the same account for your aunts estate, they may change the name on the account or might want to set up a new one.

the probate or banking boards may be a better place, not sure many that know about these areas hang out down here..
