My eldest gave up naps around this age. But I always tried to give him some 'space' around what used to be his nap time. Just got him to sit and relax ( how, I have no idea) or took him for a walk in his buggy, as he was still tired, just not enough to sleep.

My youngest still has a nap and he turned 2 in April BUT he has mild cerebral palsy so he needs the extra sleep.

How indeed! I can't get my monkey to sit quietly... we read books together quietly but she makes me chuckle so much it always ends in us laughing loudly!

I am back to work now and she will be starting nursery in about a fortnight, so hopefully she will nap when they all have nap times or she will be worn out from all the fun, she will sleep soundly all night when she gets home!

    Thanks for everyones input.

So read a book. Its quiet (ish) time and its obviously fun!

She may just be going through a stage where she doesn't need the extra sleep, until a week or two later when she starts growing again!

Am I bad for thinking that it's teh nursery's problem if she doesn't nap? hehe...

Noooo she has been at home with me these last few weeks as her childminder has been poorly.

I have tried to get her to nap but without any luck and have had no car as my husband has been using it for work.. so couldn't get out except when hubby was home.

She's back at the childminders today and I have a settling in interview this week for her to go to Nursery.

And no you're not bad for thinking that... i'm wicked for thinking it's the childminders problem now if she doesn't nap... (bad bad mum) !

We ended up with a 'safe to sleep' velcro band for just this reason. DS used to try and get up, not be able to get back down, fall over, bang his head, scream etc etc. The safeTsleep kept him lying safely on his back until he fell asleep.
I don't feel such a Bad Mother any more, it never occurred to me to tie him down! :rotfl:

Not saying that using such a produce would make you a Bad Mother, of course, and can't understand why I didn't think of it! Probably sleep deprivation ...

my youngest will be 2 in september but thankfully he still has a nap and goes to bed at 6.30 (sometimes earlier) he will have a nap at nursery but when he is with me is barely naps (naughty mummy) as i like to keep him active so he is sooo tired he drops out as soon as his head hits the pillow.
i know someone has already mentioned it but i too have a stairgate in his bedroom door to stop him escaping. he also has a cd which we play everytime he goes to sleep, its called 'pure lullabys' and its lovely lullabys with his name sung in it. he usually drops before the end of the cd and my nearly 4 year still has hers too. i have also been known to drop off listening to it lol

    have i waffled again...:o sorry!
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A
