LA Fitness Direct Debit increase without notice

LA Fitness have increased my monthly DD membership fee from £26.99 p/m to £49.50 over the last couple of months without any notification! 45.5% absurd!

Surely they can't do this without notifying me in writing first? :mad:

Worse of all I have been ill for the past few months and didn't cancel or freeze my membership thinking that I am paying a nominal amount.

I will call them tomorrow and post how I got on.

I will be requesting to cancel. I have a feeling i will end up paying £49.50 (x2) because they collect the monies from my account at the end of the month. So wrong for such an increase! :mad::mad::mad:

Any suggestions will be welcome.

This happens when they control your account, and you are the spectator. It all hinges on your agreement for service and the minimum term. If there are changes, you need to be advised of them - so ask.

If you are within a minimum term, ask if this change means you can give notice of early termination with no cost - and seek a refund of all overpayments.
