caould be faulty ram but look at
http://www.ehow.com/how_5894779_fix-windows-fault-nonpaged-area.html
to check the ram in a laptop there is normally a small cover underneath
http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/upgrades/how-to-install-laptop-memory-914559
if its got 2 then take one out and try , then try the other, just reseating both may fixEx forum ambassador

Assuming it's a machine with a standard access door for the RAM, re-seating it is a two minute job. There's bound to be a video on youtube for a laptop like yours, but it's something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs5i4zAKojM
Unscrew the screws, open the door, flip the catches, pull the RAM out, push it back in, make sure the slips are tight, re-fit the door.
If that doesn't work, and there's more than one stick of RAM, try running it on one, then the other, and see if one's gone bad. If so, they're not expensive.0 -
well have taken RAM out and reinserted.
Screen shows
Windows is loading files
bar is right to the end but not doing anything else.
Anymore suggestions?
Thanks

i'd go for ubuntu installation cd
boot off it and there is a memory checker option.
then after run the live version of ubuntu, without doing the install, think you may be able to check the hard disk too for bad blocks, just do not wipe the disk. Also a good time to copy off important data to usb drive. Possibly make a backup as well as copying the files off. good time to install a linux virus checker and check your files on the drive.
Linux does not always access the hardware the exact same way as windows, so their may still be a hardware fault, but it may not present itself, but often it does.
I would try for a windows chkdsk. Now depending on above being well and experience, I would probably do some of the following, but from here not sure which one or in what order: reinstall the o/s, or run diags on the hard disk, or sfc /scannow, or do a restore, reinstall the o/s0 -
okay I gave up and sent it to a repair guy who has said its the hard drive.
He has quoted £110.00 to replace the HD is this a good deal or should I look to replace the laptop.it was a Dell Inspiron cost 550.00 two years ago
Thanks

The fault you describe is unlikely to be a hard disk failure, perhaps a 5% chance unless you have more information
You could probably have fixed it yourself if you'd followed post 4, ie factory restore - one keypress, working machine in 10 minutes.
if it really is a faulty hd, a new one is around £45, and as you have the recovery disks, you could have fitted it and reinstalled windows yourself.!!

couldn't get the laptop to F8 to try and restore just kept getting windows loading files
