Odeon Cinema, whats on?????

Options
So we are busy for the next few days and want to see The Book Thief but the Odeon cinema website only tells us which films are on up to next Thursday!
Not even a week in advance listings! AARRGGHH as I don't want to miss it!

Reel and Vue do this. Don't get the issue tbh.

How about looking at the website next Thursday?

    Just an idea.

What I want to do is to see if it is on next week. If it isn't we will rearrange things to see it this week.
Surely it isn't too much to ask?

Which is what I do. I tend o go on a Tuesday morning, so plenty of time to choose for me.

It's too much to ask of me.

    Have you asked Odeon?

Cinemas are programmed Friday-Thursday and the following weeks times are tweaked so more popular films can be seen by more people.

Movies tend to 'open' on a Friday and play the 'opening weekend' before the bulk of the daily papers are posting reviews. When the studios have a lemon, they'll go to town on the hype and take all the cash they can on the opening weekend as they know people will talk. Conversely some films overlooked earlier on end up getting an enduring following and so held over for longer in the cinemas so people can see it twice/tell their friends.

Long and short is that Odeon probably don't know yet what will be in which slots next week as they haven't got the returns from box office sales yet.

Ok, at least that explains why. We usually go on Wednesday, 2-4-1 with Orange so will chance it being on next week.

I don't understand this either, there's been times I've wanted to go to the cinema with friends on a Friday but couldn't see the listings until the Friday morning by which point it usually turns out that the film we want to see is a) not on anymore or b) showing at a time which is not convenient for everyone so we end up sacking it off and doing something else instead. Don't see why they can't consistently update listings so it always shows 7 days ahead - that means they can keep an eye on popularity etc and plan accordingly.

Probably just a hangover from the days when distribution was on film and you needed a large van network! You still need the courier network, but for hard drives currently. As screens are mostly digital now and the next step is online delivery (although the files are HUGE - not like domestic quality DVD's but hundreds of GB each), which will allow more flexible programming as required.
