green ?algae on fence panels?

trying to tidy garden up. the fences and gate panels have gone green!!
I do need to paint all the panels but do I need (and how?) to clean this stuff off first?

Mine have large green patches, If we have some decent weather, will get the power wash out, won't stand too close. watching the effect on neighbours garden and safe in the knowledge that the fence is very rugged.0

Wire brush or a stiff brush should do it, failing that just paint over it.0

A solution of 1 third bleach & 2/3rds water sprayed on with a fence paint sprayer should do it. Hose off afterwards.Nice to save.0

Use armlatox, great for removing lichens from paving too. Simply dilute and apply with watering can. Safe for plants.0
