Need Help with Removing Cistern Handle

Bought new handle for cistern.

Looked up - how to replace cistern handle.

Looked fairly simple, got all the tools together and started.

Cannot for the life of me get the long bar that goes through the
plastic which holds the hook undone.:mad:

It may be corroded, but from the way it will not budge,
I think its superglued. Cannot pull, hammered, grip too hard or
I may end up pulling the handle through the ceramic.

I have even tried to hack saw it, and drill holes in a line so it will
break away. All to no avail.

Please help.

Saw it out with a junior hacksaw.

Thanks, Will try again with the hacksaw, but the position of it is awkward, with the wall behind and all the other bits in the cistern.
