Mince snob?

Another one here for lidl mince. I didn't find it too fatty that I had to drain it but just enough to give it a good flavour.0

Yep, I'm a mince snob!
Can't bear to buy the non-organic high fat stuff - I don't trust what's in it
I'd rather use less and pad it out with other ingredients than buy the cheap mince.

I am not against Quorn but I can't stand the smell! I eat Quorn based food whenever I visit my friend who is veggie. I believe some folk can get an upset tummy eating Quorn but it has never affected me that way.0 -
Have just made the base for a lasagne using the Lidl's mince. Quite a bit of fat to pour off once I had dry fried it. However, it is now bubbling away with onions, garlic, tomato puree, tomatoes, basil and one or two other herbs. I am sure it will be fine once put together with the cheese sauce. I don't think I would use it for mince and tatties though!0

I buy my beef shin from the local butcher and mince it myself. I know exactly what is in it.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

Totally agree so I guess that makes me a mince snob too. I try and get the organic mince from S@insbobs 3 for £10 and look out for organic ys items. It's the only way to totally avoid meat from stock raised on gm feed.I buy my beef shin from the local butcher and mince it myself. I know exactly what is in it.
I shall be mincing my own too just as soon as I can afford a mincer for the kenwood. I'll feel happier then:)0 -
Veal mince often on three for £10 from Waitrose, don't even get me started on what's supposed to be same product from Mr Ts. It's a beautiful, low fat, lovely textured mince and the only one we'll buy.

I prefer 'ordinary' mince to Lean or Extra Lean. Its the fat content which gives it flavour. so its actually better for Burgers etc.0

I like to save money but I admit I am a snob on mince, I think it has something to do with being bought up on a farm and knowing what goes into supermarket mince. I buy from a local butcher as often they will mince it up for you in front of your eyes. My view is you can always pad it out a bit with vegetables if you are a bit concerned about it costing a bit more than the cheaper versions.0

I quite like Aldi's better mince as it is low fat, but not too low.0
