  • Good Morning and Hi Everyone:wave:

Crikey I'm the first one up today! What can be happening at Tiff Towers?

Thought you all would be interested to read this from today's Times:

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article3434486.ece

Comprehensive published research has proved that new generation AD's work no better than placebos (sugar pills) for the majority of patients with depression.

With this in mind, the Government has just announced plans to train 3,600 therapists to treat depression without pills.
Interesting to read the posted Times readers comments: 'have your say' at the end of the article.

    What do you think?.............

Just wanted to let you all know that after my 'low' the other day I'm feeling better. I've worked out what is bothering me, and am putting plans into place to make myself feel better (feelie wants some female lovin' lol - hubby has consented, and is a little jealous!). The trip might (hopefully) be extended, I'm liking it here and would like to stay. I really need to figure out once and for all wether I'm gay or not, so hopefully will come to a conclusion in the near future.

Hope everyone is as well as possible and getting all the help, love and support they need.

Clipboard - good early morning! (Its 16:40 here lol). Its great that there will be more therapist. My pychiatrist said I should have CBT then pyscotherapy, but they are unable to refer me for either.

They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

As some who has relied on anti-depressants at times I think there are times when emergency action is required to stop people committing suicide. If the short term use of an anti-depressant allows sufficient respite from dangerous obsessive thoughts then that use is crucial.
We should not in any way criticize people who use or administer them.

That said we should be looking more carefully at what are is the cause of the depression and the reasons why our brain/body is not able to cope with that stressor.

I don't think I have to repeat the fact that depression is an inflammatory condition nor that most people in the UK have insufficient status in the major natural anti-inflammatory agent. We know for certain that at no point in the year does the average UK adult have adequate Vitamin d to ensure optimal calcium uptake. Vitamin D supplementation has also been shown to reduce the impact of age-related, calcium-dependent processes in brain cells. Vitamin D is required for the synthesis of the hormone that regulates calcium metabolism for the whole body.

Yet there is hardly a GP in the UK who knows what a 25(OH)D test is for nor is the NHS in a position to prescribe the most effective treatment for Vitamin D insufficiency as the moneysavingpharmacist recently confirmed that Cholecalciferol, in a stand alone form, is not listed as prescribable.

While we have a health service that is so seriously controlled by big pharma that the cheapest, most effective strength, safest, treatment for Vitamin D insufficiency has to be obtained privately from USA supplement providers off prescription it is no wonder that our GP's are ignorant of it's beneficial effects.

Other anti inflammatory agents are known to have a role in depression such as the omega 3 EPA More research based information about depression and nutrition is available at Mental Health Foundation : Feeding Minds

It's my dear old dad's birthday today. He's 72 (I think?!) Bless his heart. He's not too well these days, but we're all going out for a nice meal tonight to celebrate.
