Question about Cavity wall insullation and pension credits

Hello this is my first post on the forum, so forgive me if it's in the wrong place.

I've been asked by a pensioner who has had one of those door to door sellers approach her about cavity wall insulation. She contacted me and asked if I could find out if someone who isn't on pension credit can have free cavity wall insulation installed and if there is a list anywhere of approved installers that are trustworthy etc.

I've had a good read about ECO but with the recent changes just wanted to check what the state of play is for someone who isn't on pension credit and cavity wall insulation.

If anyone knows I would be really grateful as I want to call her back tomorrow to advice her on what's what.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

It might be worth phoning the Energy Savings Trust - have a look at their website for the 0800 number. They should help and can steer you towards installers in your area. Even if it's not free there may still be some subsidies still around.

I found them very helpful when I wanted to get insulation & heating sorted out in my place - I actually got the loft insulation done at highly advantageous prices and I'm not elderly or on any benefits. They also pointed me in the right direction for heating contractors.

My next door neighbours got both cavity wall & loft insulation carried out a couple of years ago for free just because one of them was over 70 - the rules keep changing and different areas/suppliers have different criteria so the EST should have the latest info.

As part of their green credentials "I think" most gas /electricity companies provide this service and some may be free or cheap.Worth asking the supplier.
