I have a light fitting which is currently in use. Its got an electronic transformer built into the fitting which can be changed if needed to, it powers 10 G4 10w bulbs.

I would like to replace these with LED (7w) bulbs that I've bought, I know its not a simple swap.

I found one of these and was wondering if that would do the job.

Don't take my word for it, but it sounds to me like your current bulbs are DC, if they're connected to a tranformer. Therefore, LED will swap straight in.
The problem with using LEDs with 'old' transformers is usually that they draw so little power, that the transformer won't power them correctly, or at all. Considering you're going from 10w to 7w, though, I think you should just try direct replacement.

I wouldn't assume that "transformer" means a DC output. It would be best to read the print on it to see.

the problem I have with the rectifier gadget that the OP has posted a link to is the complete absence of any specification on the web site. It doesn't actually say what current it can take, so I couldn't say if you need one per lamp, or if you could put lots of lamps on one rectifier.

Remove the transformer and replace the fittings. 12 volt has NO advantage when it comes to LED lamps. And it certainly doesn't save any energy either.

Stevefromdonny - you're right, AC would be a preference - can you find any AC G4 LEDs? Note also that the OP already has DC ones.
