If youve snapped the head off already, the screen should now pull away from the channel. Can you post a pic??

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear: I snapped the tip of the screwdriver off, not the screw. I must be so strong :-D

Yep, it's still stuck tight grr.

If you're not wanting to keep the screen (and it sounds like you don't!!) then a bit of brute force will solve the problem without waiting for the drill method.
Use an old chisel, slipped between the screen and channel to prize the channel away from the screen and screw - the channel will split/bend over the screw head and you'll be able to pll the screen from the channel.

Give it a go - if you've managd to shear the head off a screwdriver then you've enough strength to do this!!!!

Perfection takes time: don't expect miracles in a day :D
  • A chisel sounds interesting-I like the idea of prising the thing off. I will see who can lend me a chisel then will use all that strength i didn't know I have.

I take it the channel is the thing that the screw screws into?

I'd unscrew all of the other screws then slowly and carefully pull the screw and plug out from the wall by lifting the shower screen...and maybe a flat screwdriver in behind to help :)
  • It's gone- hooray! I turned the screw clockwise slightly with the aid of my freshly acquired elastic band and then undid it. It wasn't easy and my hand hurts like heck but whatever- hooray again!

Thanks to all for your advice, much appreciated :-D
