Have my double glazing units failed?

We have a number needing replacing (next job after having a new boiler and radiators) and the amount of condensation does vary with the weather.

Some years ago, when only one small pane, in the kitchen, tended to fog, I read about the repairing of units, but having spoken to someone (admittedly biased as he was a window seller) , was told that the repairs are very temporary and as the seal, not just the rubber part, is damaged , the problem will recur, thus wasting money.

I would be very wary of the abovementioned warranty period, as they could 'repair' and close the business a year later.

I just found an old thread which discusses this subject

  • An update, just in case anyone happens to be interested!

I left it a week or so to keep an eye on the windows and double check there weren't problems with any of the others. The two panes that failed have continued to get worse, so I rang the company who installed them. They ordered me replacement panes, right there and then on the phone, so no need for a visit. There'll be ringing me in the next week or so to arrange installation, so hopefully everything will be ok.

If they are out of guarantee, its cheaper getting a glazier than a double glazed company. I paid £100 to get a massive window replaced when the seals failed.
