£500 in credit on final bill now n-power saying that's wrong

A while back, we switched energy company. We were with N Power. We then received a final bill from them which said we are £500 in credit. So called them today to try and reclaim this money and they are now saying this bill is incorrect. They are going to re-issue it within 28 days. Is this common fobbing off with n-power or is it likely that the bill is incorrect?

No one but you can possibly know if your bill is correct or not.

You should be able to work it out yourself. You should know how much electricity you've used, how much you've already paid, what tariff you were on and what the final reading was. It's then a case doing some simple sums.
If you haven't got all that information then you won't be able to check if the bill is correct or not and nPower can do all the fobbing off that they want

Just a thought - do you have an internet account with npower.

I go on British Gas account all the time just to check and make sure that all is well and that I am not paying too little or even too much.

If you haven't got internet get it so you can check.

There is even a button on there that allows you to request credit's.

Did they tell you why it was incorrect?

I've seen instances where bills are wrong due to "rounding errors" and the replacement bill is identical, or to within a few pence of the original.

Was the final bill you got for both fuels?
