Windows Live Mail

I use Windows Live Mail for my email accounts. With my Hotmail account, in the last couple of weeks' I've had three instances where no copy of emails that I've sent (to different people) have been saved in the saved emails folder. I've checked the settings and the box is ticked for the "save a copy of messages in the sent folder". I've logged directly onto Hotmail to see if the sent items appear there, and they do. Does anyone know why they would be missing from Windows Live Mail?

That's very odd, I can't see any other setting in Options that should interfere with the Save Sent option.

One curiosity, and it may just be down to the way I set up WLM, but I have 2 Sent folders in the left pane, one underneath my email account name and another under the heading Storage Folders. My sent messages get copied into the first one and the second one remains empty.

Have you got more than one Sent folder and if so, could your recent messages be going into it?

No, I only have the one sent folder, very strange isn't it? But it made me think a little bit harder, and I don't seem to be getting as many emails as I usually do and I know someone told me they'd sent me an email but I didn't receive it, and that's both when I log into Hotmail or through Windows Live Mail. Hmmm.

On checking the list in sent folders against each other (Hotmail and Windows Live Mail), to see if there was a pattern to the missing emails in sent folder in Windows Live, I have established that all of the missing emails in Windows Live Mail sent folder that do appear when logged into Hotmail were sent as "high importance". Why on earth is Windows Live Mail not storing these emails in the sent folder??? I've sent a test to another email address that I have and they do, at least, seem to be sent, just not stored. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Even more puzzling. I've just carried out a test in WLM sending messages flagged as High Priority to myself and to my wife's email addy and both were saved in Sent Items just like all my other sent messages. Can't even begin to think of a reason why yours don't.

Thank you for trying this out Oblivion. It looks like I'll have to send a copy to myself when sending a high priority email to someone so that I have a record of it in Windows Live Mail (so I can then move it to my sent email folder).
