O/S Daily Saturday 1st March 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Getting light here, it’s misty and looks cold and damp. No wind though.
I’m working this morning and DH isn’t – hence why I’m up and about early on a Saturday. I’m only working until 12 noon so not to horrendous. We will need to visit the outlaws and my parents this afternoon as we’re busy tomorrow.
Was reasonably productive yesterday got the remaining washing, drying and ironing done, last bits were put on the airer overnight to dry. Also got the pc sorted, which did take a little bit of time and running about, but all usuable again now. Did do some baking – made some cherry muffins and 2 doz twinks.
Sorted out a menu plan for this coming week, have nearly blown the budget already and have this week and next week to go – this week will be ok as I’ve shopped and accounted for this but next week I won’t have enough left to get the normal basic shop – so will either have to go over budget or we could be eating some strange combos. Think I’m going to have a go at doing a menu plan on the basics, and seeing how I get on. Luckily I do have the money to do a normal shop and just take part in the GC on my own to try to keep the costs down as we do spend a lot of money on food/groceries etc.
Was lucky yesterday on on-line games and won £24 – all for no outlay – as they do bonus games every now and then and I won using winnings from a bonus game, that money has been withdrawn and I’m waiting for it to hit the bank account. It will then be used to pay off a cc.
Have a good Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

We've left the heating on low lately, it's been ticking along with no problems, just needing the occasional pressure top-up. I say it's on low, the display board isn't registering proper readings so we've kept it on the lowest according to the displayI was really cold last night so I turned the heating up – big mistake! Pressure has dropped to almost nothing, the heating hasn't come on this morning and it's frosty outside. I can't find the screwdriver to turn the tap to let more water in. I'm freezing
I have a lovely new boiler sat in the hall, just need the plumber now
He's booked in for just over a week's time.
It rained a lot yesterday and now the ground is frozen. I wanted to dig over some of the veg patch but that'll have to wait.
Miss tru has a new job, she starts on monday :T One of the bosses at her old job told the staff about a month ago that they only had a three month lease but they've renewed it for two years. Errr great, but none of them knew it a temp job in the first place! A few days later, other boss says they didn't renew and they're closing at the end of the week. She's just run out of money and was about to sign on when she she had a phone call saying she's got this new job. I told her sign on the second she finished the other job but she's claimed JSA before and was desperately trying not to have to do it again. She won't get paid til the end of the month so it looks like we'll be subbing her for a few weeks
We've planted more seeds – marigolds, tomatoes and peppers.
I put my latest crochet makes together yesterday, there's a lot of blueWill have to balance that out with some bright colours – I'll start today

Morning all
Happy St David.s Day.
Early one from me in a B&B near DS's. Got a phone call from a strange number about 7 am, decided to answer it luckily I did. It was DS. He had got up to let Skye out (she never goes out before 9 with us), and the door shut behind him, he had just thrown a hoody over pj's. Had nothing with him. Luckiy a stranger went by and let him borrow his phone. Tried his fianc!e but once asleep she hears nothing, so called me, so I had to get up! dressed! and go round to his with our set of keys (lucky we have one) to let him in. Kids!!! Back In the B&B now and wide awake.
This morning they have to dash to the jewellers to finalise the rings, we will go round, and let ourselves in and take Skye for a walk, and amuse ourselves until they get back, grab some lunch, then the girls are off on the hen do. First part an art lesson, B is very arty, and it suits me too:D:T:T. More details on that later.
Then we come back and get changed and go out for a meal in London, at 9.30pm to 10ish the younger element depart to a night club and B's Mum & I together with a heavily pregnant bridesmaid sister, will call it quits, and babysit Skye until DS & DH, or just DH returns.
Time for a shower, and the breakfast part
((Hugs)) spoons, etc., take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Morning all,
Cold and frosty here too which is quite a nice change from rain, the sun is out so it should be a nice day.
OH has gone to the boot sale and dd is still in bed so nice and quiet atm, just having a cuppa and toast and jam.
WM is on and I have a couple more loads to follow it I will get it on the line today, we washed OH's work clothes last night separately as they were filthy !
DD is off to see her boyf tonight so just OH and I here, I have a chicken to cook (2 for £6 in Waitrose) so will do that with cubed garlic roasted spuds with stuffed mushrooms and courgettes.
OH is seeing his dad later and they are going to collect a motorbike in the back of OH's van, that will keep them busy for a few hours and dd will be out so I might have a nap
Need to have a hoover through and tidy and sort the washing, and I need to pop to the local shop for mayonnaise (they do helmans really cheap !)
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Happy St David's Day!
tru - Congratulations to your DD! Glad the heating is on!
dg - enjoy your day, sounds like good fun.
JackieO - Have fun at your party.
Moorhen - Well done to your school
Hugs to those not feeling quite up to scratch.
Seems like I have had a busy week but achieved nothing! Did go to see a live screening of War Horse which was absolutely fantastic, so powerful (and sad). Didn't really sleep very well after seeing it as it was going through my mind. Went with some colleagues from work, had a meal before hand and it was lovely (I had spicy prawns to start and then a Caesar salad but with salmon).
Got a stereo system yesterday from someone on freegle, a sony stacking system with a turntable and about 100 LPs. DD was fascinated with the records as we have some but haven't had a turntable to play them on. The strangest thing to her is that records have 2 sides!! She's 21!
Did the shopping and housework last night, made chicken curry for tea and then fell asleep! Don't need to go out today so can hopefully strip wallpaper and catch up with the washing. Just put out a new washing line and the weather looks fairly promising.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all, popped into the big town along the seafront to get a parcel, the flag was almost horizontal, but the view was lovely, from inside the car.
Now to decide what do with said parcel, my meerkat toy, will have to look on fleabay to see how much they sell for , I'm not really one for stuffed toys....
First weekday of DH retirement was good, won't be long until all days seem the same to him!
Hugs to those who need them have a lovely weekend.Carolbee0
