British Gas price promise?
British Gas are asking me whether I want to continue to 'fix' my energy prices till 2016? (gas and electric)
Reading the 'small print' it shows Standard charge £4.74 per unit kWh against Fixed rate of £5.01 per unit kWh?
Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you.

The price will be 4.74 p per kWh (that is £0.0474 per kWh). There is also a standing charge to consider.
Also double-check you are comparing inc VAT prices.
Pop over to a comparison site such as uswitch or energyhelpline and compare British Gas' fixes with everyone elses. Use your typical annual usage in kWh to make the comparison.
As to whether or not to pay more to fix for an extra year or two - that's your call to make. Filter the results for all tariffs, filter them for fixes only and see how the shorter and longer terms compare.0 -
yes, check the switching sites. BGs fixed deals are generally speaking very expensive (there are even 4 year fixes cheaper than the BG fixed to Mar 2016!!0

They sent a letter confirming new tariff rates, yet hid the tariff rates in the small print? How very bizarre. Is this factually correct?Sunny in Southampton.0
