The stamps are now costing more than the cards to send at Xmas, will stop bothering at all soon.

To be fair on Royal Mail, at least they are telling people beforehand.
I may pick up a few books of stamps. I wish I would have picked up more from the last time!

Things haven't really changed that much. The price of a first class stamp was about that of a LB of bananas 40 years ago. It still is.
  • What pointless advice... If I send 2 letters week, with and extra 10 at Christmas I can save a whopping £3.50 ish! (And I probably only send 10 letters in year in reality)

MSE - Stick to the mortgage type advise, this is pointless money saving.

You'll be recommending sharing a king pit noodle rather than 2 individual ones next!

It does seem odd advice. Even if you send 1000 Christmas cards the most you're saving is £30 and you have to invest £500 in stamps. With the weather we've been having they'll probably end up water damaged by Christmas;)

But the value will never drop and in 2012 the value jumped 30%. It's increased almost 9% year-on-year since 2002, so a sound investment...given they have a resale value

Somebody told me he bought hundreds from Costco about five years ago. He does have a business, so went through a lot of stamps. Several thousand pounds worth. Saved a bundle.

Me, bought about 50 stamps, about 40 left after five years.

You miss the point. RMs network has a capacity.it isnt geared for large/heavy packets at this point.so they use pricing to limit that sector.

Where do you buy your bananas from ? 1lb costs me 31p, half the price of a first class stamp.
