Hi there, I am currently with british gas, and have being paying my bill via pre payment meeter - this was installed as I had run up debt to British gas, which I have been paying for the last 12 months. My debt is almost gone and I can pay off what I owe today but I now want to go back on to credit meeter with a direct debit, to make things cheaper. Only to be told that I cant and have to be debt free for 12 months. I am willing to switch but only if i can go on to a credit meeter.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Once you have cleared your debt you can switch supplier and then try and get a credit meter but you need to bear in mind the supplier will (a) run a credit check and (b) may charge you £50-£70 to change the meter.
How much youwill save will depend on what fuel as PPM is now the same cost as standard pay on bill credit so it could take some time to recover £50-£70.
