Where to live in Yorkshire?

My wife and I are looking for somewhere to move to between Leeds and Doncaster with easy access to both. We have a 2 year old boy and we're looking for somewhere pretty quiet and safe with good schools (our main reason for the move)
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

I can recommend Selby (and its surrounding villages). It's about 20 miles from both Leeds and Doncaster via the new bypass, and it's very handy for York too.
Selby is a traditional market town (market every Monday) with a huge and historic Abbey at its centre. There's a good mix of national and local retailers, including Tescos, Morrisons and Somerfield supermarkets.
Like most towns there are a couple of areas to avoid and, although I don't have any kids myself, I believe the schools are quite good as well.
PM me if you have any questions.

If you need easy access to Doncaster and Leeds then something on the Doncaster-Leeds main railway line would be your best bet. Wakefield is the most central place, quite a small city with everything you would expect, although I've never looked into the schools there.0

I also think Selby is nice, and the surrounding villages. It is a short hop to both Leeds and Donny.
It also has a high speed train to London (Hull Trains) which I think is a big asset for local house prices as people look for rural locations within two hours of the Big Smoke.
Good luck!Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
wakefield
depending on budget, it has some nice areas.
and some not so nice ones.

Tadcaster
The grammar school (which is not actualy a grammar) has people moving from nearby areas so their kids are in the catchment area.
It is about 14 miles from Leeds and about 35 mins drive to Doncaster (where I had my three older children."This site is addictive!"

I must admit, Wakefield does seem to be right in between both which is ideal. We had a look around but only really seemed to see Sandal which we liked and we were a bit undecided on Crofton, so if you can recommend anywhere that would be great.
As for Selby, I'm going to take a drive out there and explore this week.0 -
Sandal is quite nice. Wrenthorpe is nice too and is in walking distance of the train and very close to the M1. It depends on what method of transport you are planning to use, crofton isn't very good for rail.0

Have a look at South Elmsall, also has train station with direct access to Leeds and Doncaster.0
