PPI claiming when previously in an IVA

Hi

I was in an IVA managed originally by Accuma, and latterly by Grant Thornton. I completed it sucessfully in January 2011.

Recently it came to light that I'd paid PPI on 8 loans with Nat West taken out from 1994 up until 1999. I also found I'd paid PPI on credit cards with Halifax and MBNA

None of the Nat West loans went in to my IVA.( although a later one with Nat West did).. The credit cards did though.

I've contacted Nat West, Halifax and MBNA about possibly claiming back some PPI. MBNA have written to me saying that first they need a letter from my IVA supervisor stating that they are happy for any money to be paid directly to me.

My questions are

1. Can Grant Thornton demand the money is paid to them , even though the IVA was completed?

2. Even though none of the Nat West loans went in to the IVA, do you think they will come back with a similar request because a later loan with them went in to the IVA?

1 - doubt it, they facilitated your debt repayment, so I can't see how you owe them any money.
    2 - They may.

The most important thing to rememeber is that if you do complain, your IVA may have had amounts written off or reduced, so any company you complain to is enetitled to use any redress against those defaults first.

your IVA was to repay a certain amount of money, after which those companies would leave you alone and regard all debts as settled. By complaining about the PPI you are saying that those debts are not settled, hence their right to set off against any amount written off etc.
