Hi all – bit late coming on here this morning; woke up in the night which made me sleep later this morning! Have ironing (will that never end?) this morning and will do our main meal at lunchtime – roast lamb and all the trimmings, followed by pineapple wedges and strawberries, and then we’ll have plum and rhubarb crumble with custard for tea; all that lovely fresh fruit – we should be fizzing with vitamin C!

It rained ALL day yesterday and ALL night, brightened up a bit early this morning and now it’s spitting. Yesterday, we had a relaxing afternoon watching The Count of Monte Cristo which seemed to last for about four hours but it was really good – a proper film for a wet Saturday afternoon!

Grandchildren will be round this afternoon but no footie in the garden today, I think! I’ll have to get the drawing and crafting box out, instead.

QUEENIE – yes, the wedding was brilliant! Lake Garda is beautiful, we stayed in a lovely hotel and the wedding was in the local castle; it was a wonderful and emotional affair that has given us lots of memories. The bride looked absolutely beautiful which had both us mums in tears for most of the day. DS1 looked so handsome he could have been a film star according to his new in-laws! I already knew that, of course! The grandchildren were fantastic all the way through – the wedding included a boat trip around the lake (in a thunderstorm!) and a seven course wedding banquet. The sun shone when it mattered, for the service and the photos. We drove back to France the ‘long’ way round – through the Alps, taking in Austria, Germany, Leichtenstein and Switzerland – getting lost several times due to my lack of navigational skills – but it was very interesting and exiting! We spent another week in France then sailed back home with a camera full of lovely photos and lots of happy things to remember and talk about for years to come.

Well, I suppose I should go now and get at least some of the ironing done. I need to make the pudding but I made the crumble mix yesterday while I was baking cakes so it will be a simple job to prepare the fruit. I even prepped the veggies for today’s dinner yesterday so that will save time, as well.

I hope you all have a good morning and that the rain isn’t affecting anyone badly. I also hope none of you was caught up in the awful terrorist attack at Glasgow Airport. Seems nowhere is safe, these days.

    Will call in later.

    Morning all,
Have had to close my bedroom door at night recently otherwise my new kitten wakes me around 6am by clawing the duvet. She came to greet me as soon as I opened my door which was nice, she's quite lively first thing in the morning. I managed to get back to sleep but then woke with a migraine. For the first time I knew I had a migraine before I opened my eyes as I could see the flashing crescent. Took a pill and then went back to bed but didn't sleep. Flashing lights have now gone and don't feel too bad.
Thought I might try roasting a chicken in the slow cooker today... and either eat it for the week or freeze some.
Ironing - have used an iron about 5 times in the last 5 years - me don't iron. Sorry Mrs_mix, dogrose, Ika200, little miss saver, mioliere!
So today I'm gonna do a bit of housework, bit of paperwork... now someone is going to tell me that they don't do housework or paperwork!! I got a bathroom cabinet yesterday from freecycle... that will probably sit nicely on the floor for quite a while... don't know the first thing about putting it up... could look in my DIY book perhaps...
HEY!!!! The sun is shining here and we have some blue sky!.... Spoke too soon about the sun shining! Oh it's back... in, out, in, out! (I almost hear a song coming on!)
A year today and it will be new years day...mmm doesn't time fly... moving on...

Morning all..............((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one.

A little dull, but I can see a ew bits of blue sky..........it has stopped raining, we had intended to go to the allotment this morning, but really there is no point, its so wet, there is nothing really we can do.

OH says he is going out for a walk later, he has been sitting over a new jigsaw, he does tend to get a bit too involved in things at times.........

I need to iron the bed linen from yesterday, so think I'll do that and then do a bit more sewing.

Pork chops, new spuds, carrots and cabbage for supper tonight..... not sure what we are going to have as dessert........need to put my thinking cap on.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH is see something bright and shiny....could it be the sun?????????????????

  • Hi Everyone

Thanks for all the hugs. What a grotty day. OH gone off to play table tennis all day. I'm stuck with 2 grumpy bored kids (11 & 12), and we've been awake since 5 because DD's mobile started bleeping because the battery was low!!
    Argh!!!

Have eaten far too many home made hobnobs that were meant to last all week for lunch boxes.

Why is it always wet when you don't want to spend any money??

I know we wont melt but we all wear specs!

Right that's off my chest, I'll crack on and get some stuff done now. We do have very exciting outing to look forward to, jam jars from freecycle to collect. Duh.

    Morning all,

Good news - we have a new house!!! :j

It was really quite strange actually - when we were looking for places, we saw an absolutely amazing farmhouse that was just *perfect* - except the tenant wouldn't move out. At the time, we didnt know how long it would take to get her out, and there was no guarantee we would get the house at the end of it, even if we waited, so we got somewhere else- which has recently showed itself to be structurally unsound....but guess who rang (completely out of the blue) the other day?!! Yes, the lady who owns the farmhouse saying that the tenant is moving out and would we like the cottage? YES PLEASE!!! So, we paid the deposit yesterday and will be moving in over the next couple of weeks.

OH is on a mission looking for a cooker today. I will be doing my meal plan and shopping list ready to stock the freezer up as well as re-reading Country Living for inspiration :)

The rain is persisting down here - luckily my utility room has a perspex roof so it will actually warm the room and dry the washing - not as nice as having it line dried though!

Oh, and remember my Kenwood set itself on fire a few months ago? It got taken apart this morning and we now know the problem, which will cost about 20p to fix. And depending on how things go with the new metalworkers at work, I might send it off to be re-powder coated. Having a proper little service!

    Have a good one

Morning Berkshirebird... hobnobs hey? Well I made the mistake of having a couple of the new Rice Infusions Sour Cream and Onion Pringles before breakfast (in my opinion not as nice as the normal Pringles and very strong, but still addictive)... and a swigg of lemonade... anyway I tightened the reins and quickly had to have some toast, otherwise I'm sure I would have eat the whole tube. The temptation remains... [The temptation no longer remains! 11.44am]

Wow Blairweech, that's great great great news, sounds perfect! How exciting, I guess it doesn't matter too much that its raining outside as you're able to look on the bright side of life without the sun, so many positive vibes in your posting!!! Hope you find a good cooker so you can bake some nice things and fill the farmhouse with a delightful cooking smell!

Gosh I'm slow to get going today, haven't done anything yet... can't quite decided what to do first...

    Afternoon all

Dry here today - very overcast though.

Been out for a lovely walk this morning all along the cliffs, DD2 came back and promptly burst into tears as she's feeling grotty again - DH has just taken her to the walk in clinic at the local hospital to see if she needs another dose of antibioitics - bless her she's been feeling like this for 2 weeks now.

Was very good yesterday and set a budget of £30 for the weekly shop - took cash only and left all our cards at home - we came in at £23.17 so the rest has gone in a jar, I want to run the freezer right down so all the extras in the jar will go towards restocking it.

Had a glass too many of wine last night and went to bed with a spinny head - serves me right so we were up early - hence the walk.

DH is cooking pork loin (a MS job purchase) with a creamy peppercorn sauce, cheesy mash and steamed veg for tea - followed by apple and blackberry crumble. Will utilise the over whilst it's on and get some cakes made up for during the week, might have a look at these hobnobs too although it may prove too tempting.

Hope you all have a great day.

    Hi all,

Got up about 6:30am - raining again. Washed a few random plates etc DH always has left from evening before as he loves to snack at night.

Went throught 3 drawers to organise them a little and threw out some old expired coupons:rolleyes:, a few receipts althought I have about 300-500 receipts  I have put in a bag to go through - most of which I should really throw out.

Filed away a few bank statements (found in my drawers) and was able to throw out a few pay in slips after I checked them against my bank statements.

Got ready to go out and left the house at 11:20am armed with a small bag of more bottles for recycling.

As I walked through the Asda card park towards the bottle banks picked up other litter bugs cans and empty bottles as I walk past to recycle those too.

Got a box of 6 mini lollys from Superdrug with a free voucher I had. Then off to Boots to buy some [FONT=&quot]lozenges for quitting smoking for £1 as I had a voucher. Not for me I might add as I don't smoke.

Got my NOTW paper - free with my free NOTW paper voucher.

Found £1.02 walking back to my car. Must be good karma for recycling bottles.

Then went to the CO-OP to return an irn-bru bottle for a 20p refund. Got some reduced baby potatoes for 30p.

Back home in time for DH to make me a fried egg roll for a late breakfast. Hung up messy DH clothes then listed 1 item on Ebay.

Gave DH some Andrew Salts I brought recently with my Boots points so he will give me cash back. :D

Have to change the bedding but DH is playing on his X-box so will need to wait until he gets off the bed.

    Crikey it's lunchtime already...:p
