Anyone had a balance transfer fail before?

Options
Opened a new 0% for 30 months Barclaycard with an initial balance transfer of £1200 from my Lloyds credit card. Was accepted for it about five days ago, and ever since then the balance transfer has been showing up as a 'pending transaction'. Thought it was taking a while to go through, however I've just logged in this morning and it's completely disappeared, balance returned to zero and no sign I ever had a BT in progress at all!

Any what happened or why it didn't go through? I've still not received my card and cannot attempt a BT until I get it and register it now so I'm stuck waiting for the postman.

  • Anything showing up on your Lloyds account?

I don't see why you can't phone Barclaycard - not having the card shouldn't stop you getting through security.

OH had to do his manually with this card last month.

With his, the card came about a week before going on holiday and the transfers looked to be pending online. When we got back from our holiday he checked online but no transfers were done and the Barclaycard had zero balance. He checked the cards he was transferring from and found no trace of any transfers.

I suggested he do them himself, he did and it took 2-3 working days for all transfers to go to the new card.

I had a problem when transferring from barclays to santander. It would just keep failing when doing online. So i phoned up and they said the system didn't recognise the card number. So i had to use the account number and sort code for barclaycard to get it through

i have had problems moving debt to Lloyds and NatWest in the past, when they have said the BT is approved and going ahead only for it to stall, requiring manual chasing. but, in the end, they've gone ahead, and normally had a taste for my trouble.
