Old Style Daily Thread Friday 28th February
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Damp and chilly here, didn't feel like it could possibly be time to get up but it was!

Am very happy it is Friday as it feels like it's been a long week. GDD is coming to stay overnight on Saturday so need to get some cleaning and tidying done .... so she can mess it all up again.

Butterfly Brain - I am not surprised you were venting, that is truly appalling

Julie - That is wonderful news about Australia visit and seeing your family

I better get a move on.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep warm, well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Still dark here this morning, but felt very chilly last night, so may have had a frost. But looks to be dry and not to windy at the moment. Rain is forecast for later though.

DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, new potatoes, peas and onion sauce. Dessert from the tins for those that wanted them. Tonight will be something and chips, possibly kievs, I gave them something else last week, and was asked "why haven't we got kievs we like those?", so that's probably what they will have. I'll have mushroom omelette and salad.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, got the washing, drying and ironing almost done, still a bit left that wasn't dry enough to iron, but will get that done today. Housework got done too. Will endeavour to get all the beds done, if I can't get them all done will do some today and some tomorrow. But don't want to leave anything until tomorrow unless I have to as I'm working tomorrow morning and then we're busy most of the day Sunday.

Not very happy with my new pc setup - discovered when I went to scan something yesterday that when the company installed all the programs etc they haven't installed the printer/scanner part correctly, so spent some time yesterday evening trying to re-install it but it still won't communicate between the printer/scanner and the pc. It's fine to copy and print off but not scan and send to printer/scanner. The company have said bring it all down this morning and they'll have a look at it. Have switched it on this morning to do my usual stuff and now it says there's a problem with microsoft and I can't open or get to any of my documents - this was absolutely fine yesterday and has been since I purchased it - so not happy at all as had planned to do some work needing that part of the system. Have to write a report for DH which needs to be done within the next 2-3 days - so company will be sorting that out today as well. I won't be paying anything extra for their services either - I won't be leaving there until everythings as it should be and I'm happy, I wouldn't mind but I paid a lot of money for this set up and would expect that it works correctly. And breathe ...................

Have the normal chores to do today, will be heading to town shortly, the bank, food shopping, then take pc to company, baking/cooking, get last bits of ironing done, beds. So plenty to be going on with.

Have a good Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Been awol for a bit as we have had so much rubbish to deal with.
My ex husband has decided to now become a woman!!!! To say i was shocked is an understatement. TBH i dont care what he does but when he turned up to meet me to discuss the house (my name is stillon everything) dressed as a woman with no prior warning in a pub, knowing my dd would be with me , i was fuming. As if he hasnt done enough already to mess up her mind (divorced him on mental cruelty on the girls and me). She is now confused to say the least and it has set her back in her exams as she is finding it hard to concentrate. He/it did agree to remove my name from all paperwork but still waiting to hear how he/it is going to do it.
work has been manic to say the least as we have had all sorts of evenings and events going on, so i have been working days and nights.
Really feeling it now and just want to stay in bed for a week to recover.
Fallen behind on a lot of jobs at home and starting to get a cold as well..
Got paid yd so going to try and do an online shop today at least and if i get 5 mins do some HW.
Anyhoo enough of a rant from me. Hope everyone is ok and not feeling too down with this rotten weather.
Better go as the boss will be in soon.
Hugs to all that need them

    Hi everyone,

    LWW, what an a*se.

I had the most productive day I've had for about two months yesterday. I made a pork, broccoli and taleggio lasagne, a veggie lasagne, a carrot cake and some millionaire's shortcake, then took them down to DD in the second car so that she can go to Yorkshire with friends tonight. DD is funny, I had to get her flat keys from the concierge in her building, no anonymity for her. As soon as I said I was Laura's mum he said "You missed her birthday", I said, "But she was travelling back from Mexico", he said "I know, we all sang happy birthday as she walked through the door". This is a big block of flats and the concierge serves several other blocks in the complex, but they all know DD. She doesn't get it from me, but I wish she did.

The rain is back today which is depressing but I shan't go out. I want to clean the bathrooms thoroughly and make cherry cake for DS' girlfriends birthday treat.

    Have a good day all.
  • Thanks for all your support...xx
Snoozer you are spot on there lol.
My main concern is keeping dd happy and sane. As my dad would say I'm old enough and ugly enough to look after myself, and now the shock has worn off I am trying to look forward.
Managed to wrangle a bit of time off work today so gonna sort this house out and do that online shop, and if I can make a cake (baking always lifts my spirits)
    So onwards and upwards x
