HELP choosing credit card, 1 small problem

Options
Hi people, i'll keep it as short and sweet as possible.

In the past i've had a CCJ, but settled it 5 and half years ago , the record of it leaves my credit report in august this year ( when the 6 year limit is up ) . But i wanted to apply for this credit card

BarclayCard Initial

I used the MSE guide and this came up as 80% chance of acceptance
On the Barclays guide it said ''Excellent Chance''

But, if you read on the link above it says i need to be ccj free for 12 months or it'll be declined, does this mean i need to wait until august and give it another 12 months from that point when it clears off my record or can i do it now as it was paid 5 and half years ago ?

Or has anyone any other suggestions ?

You can apply now as you haven't had a CCJ in the last 12 months.

The eligibility checker isn't always right, of course, but the CCJ from over five years ago won't get you turned down.

If you waited until your CCJ drops off your record, you might stand a better chance of another credit card if you are turned down for the Barclaycard, but I would apply now and see what happens.
  • well i've applied and they need to verify some further information apparently, could take 5 days . so we'll wait and see. Thanks for your comment.
  • As you was so close to it dropping off, I'd have suggested waiting !
But this depends on any 'other' issues you may have on your files...
ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
    NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.
BofE +0.19% Tracker Repayment Offset Mortgage Discounted Sept 07-10 then increased to BofE +0.62% until 2027

there are no more issues on my file, my score in august last year was 250ish , and it now stands at 500+ . Thats a nice little double up so i couldnt see too much of a problem. It just depended on that CCJ and wether or not it counted from when it started or when it runs out.

Also it shows i've paid off an 8000 loan with not one single late payment in the 6 years it took for me to pay it off. Surely thats a good thing also.

Numbers on credit files aren't worth much - they are simply an indicator of how good Experian/Equifax think your file is, and they aren't the one ones lending you money. It's Barclaycard that you need to accept you! And as different lenders have different criteria, the score might be a completely wrong indicator.

If you haven't missed any payments in the last couple of years then I don't see a problem with the Barclaycard Initial. To that end, the loan will help.
