Scottish Power Boiler Cover???

Today I checked my bank account direct debits so I can complete my monthly budget. I was very suprised to find 2 direct debits for Scottish power. The first is my usual monthly energy payment and after some investigations I've found the 2nd to be a Scottish Power Boiler Cover for £15.80. I have not set this direct debit and I have not spoke to anyone from Scottish power at any time in the last 6 months as I'm an online energy customer. I did recently replace my boiler (January 2014), but this was via an independent boiler fitter. I've got a warranty for the next 5 years through the manufacturer as I will be having a yearly boiler MOT via registered gas fitter, and my husband works for a large company who offer a decent discount for boiler cover for employees. I'm just a tad bemused that this has been set up without my permission, or even without speaking to me! Is this usual behaviour and can they do this without my permission?

The remedy is through the DD guarantee scheme via your bank. They must give you an immediate refund if you did not authorise the DD. Then they can dispute it with SP.
