Hi
Our Sainsburys keeps getting batches of the cheapo cooking bacon (£1.10 a big pack) that instead of being the usual odds and ends and little rashers and lumps, contain 3 massive bacon steaks about half an inch to an inch thick. So look out for this as super cheap meals compared to buying actual bacon steaks. Each pack does the two of us for three generous meals.
...but...having stocked up a bit, I need some new ideas for recipes. We had just cooked plain with egg/chips etc, topped them with cheese, we've chopped them into omelettes, stir fries and risottos, and mixed with leftover chicken for chicken/bacon pies. We are a little bacon-ed out. They aren't rashers so can't wrap things in them, they are really chunky lumps.
Any more ideas? We've both turned our noses up at the idea of a bacon curry :-) urk

You could make a broth soup.
I make soup with a bacon joint as my stock then put the meat into the soup so its like a meal in it's self.
Use scotch broth soup mix and carrots/swede/turnip and a couple of vegetable stock cubes and leave to boil for a few hours and there you have it a Scotch Broth soup with bacon.0 -
some of my favourites are quiche. toad in the hole (instead of sausase)
topping for a baked potato, bacon and egg pie bacon onion and potato pie.
edited to add when I boii bacon I use the stock to make pea and ham shop; just add a tin of mushy peas, bit of chopped onion and potato and a tiny bit of chopped bacon to the stock.Slimming World at target0 -
Hadn't thought of doing some boiled recipes, thanks, so far we've roasted, fried and grilled. Does make it seem different. Quiche- that's another one, thanks![STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex.
