Amalgamating tape is only an emergency repair for a few days, a full repair is needed for anything loger than that. Push fit fittings are quick and easy to do

I have used this {see below} a few times in the past, although not easy to find Homebase in some areas seem to stock it and I can say it has worked for me each time even on wet pipes

Try some Everbuild Stixall which might work as it can be applied on wet surfaces

Depending how slight the leak is try tying a j cloth around it which hangs into a bucket. It will still leak but the leaked water is contained.

LSX will only really work if the joint is completely dry first though....
