yes I think supermarket glitches are far easier to fathom.

So I rang them at 8 exactly this morning and got the automated call back service to ring back in 1 minite which is did but I still on hold for a few minites before a person came along.

What has not helped this morning is that I cant get on the SP page - tried both IE11 and also Google Chrome with no success and clicking on the logo put me to the Spanish webpage. So whilst I was talking to the chap I could not see the page in front of me - should have tried on the ipad really.

The chap seems to think its the right order but I am still not convinced. I've tripled checked everything and def rate 1 is the lower day rate and rate 2 is the higher night rate.

Anyway I have made an excel chart with suitable formulas
so I can keep an eye on things.

Really I wish I'd not switched. We were with Eon for years and I was quite happy, I could always get through to a human on the phone with no tortuous long wait and the website was easy to manage but my payments were going up to £105.
So I used Simply switch and agree to £86 a month but my DD is £105 and I cant get it altered, have to wait three months now

On the plus side I suppose he total sum of knowledge has been increased - I now know exactly the time we go from the cheap night rate to the expensive day rate, the best time to ring SP, the price of my units....

Your post has really got up thinking. We changed from npower to eon in december. With npower rate 1 was day/normal and rate 2 was night/low. Went to give our meter reading online to eon this afternoon and it seems to have reversed. Rate 2 is day and rate 1 is night. The day meter has moved 2 units since we read it this afternoon. But our figures look opposite. Someone please try and help and explain - really baffled. Mhoc this is worse than working out glitches at asda!

    Hi matty

As SwanJon says, you can check which register is recording usage at peak and off peak times.

If it turns out we're recording the day and night usage the wrong way round, we've a specialist team who will sort this out for you. Just take the readings as SwanJon advises and talk to our 'Transposed Readings' team. They'll put things right for you.

    Hope this helps.

I've changed to SP twice over the past few years and had the same problem each time. My 1 and 2 readings are the opposite way round from the card to fill in on screen.

I've had to e-mail SP and explain this. They've then asked me to e-mail them a reading taken at 9am and then at 5pm on one day to confirm which number (1 or 2) is registering the day reading. Now my onscreen reading card has been altered to suit my meter numbering.

Everything works well with readings now.

    Thanks for this.

I was thinking it might be better to write to them in the end with a full list of my annoyances.

Website is working for me again but of course the metre reading page wont show for me as the chap took my readings this morning.

Put it on tomorrows To Do list

I have not had a final bill yet from Eon, I wonder how long that takes.

That was one of the things I liked about EON. They trawl social media for anyone with problems and respond to them. I've had long discussions with them on Twitter before.

  • Hi mhoc

Glad you like our Social Media presence. As well as the forums and twitter, we're on facebook as well.

Just thought I'd give you a quick heads up about your final bill. When changing supplier, it's the responsibility of the gaining supplier to let the losing supplier have the meter readings they intend to use to open their account.

The losing supplier will use these readings to close their account. This is to make sure customers are only charged once for the same energy.

Once Scottish Power let us have the readings, we'll issue your final bill.

    Hope this helps.

    sacsquacco,
Your comments about this interest me. I noticed we were still on night rate at 8.40 this morning. (presumably when the clocks change, this would be 9.40). Providing, seven hours only is provided at this rate, do you think we could be building up a problem for ourselves with our supplier going forward?
    OK, I know, ask them!

your timerswitch should be knocking off night rate around the 7.30 am mark as they are all set to GMT. In my area the times are 12.30 am to 7.30 am. so when the hour gos back it go to 8.30am I see some of the digital eco 7 meters with built in clocks have drifted up to an hour. The main culprit for big differences in time slippage are the old 24 hour analogue timers.I dont think the suppliers are bothered at all about a few hours drift as they can never guarantee the proper times as its beyond their control. I would just monitor when the cheap night rate starts and ends so you can make the best use of the 7 hours
