Am I able to claim JSA

Hi,

My ex husband and I split up in January, but we both live with my parents.

My job is coming to an end in April and I am frantically looking for a new job. However, if I am not able to secure work before April, am I able to claim job seeker's allowance as I do live with my ex husband and my parents?

To my knowledge, I will be unable to claim contribution based JSA as there are some gaps in my NI contributions.

Thank you for your help

Assuming you meet the income/savings criteria, yes you can claim income-based JSA as a single person, but be prepared to answer questions about your situtation.
Do you still have any financial ties with your husband?
Is he taking steps to move out?
They will look into things like that.

    Thank you for this information.

We have no financial ties whatsoever, no join accounts, etc.

He is looking for somewhere to move to.

Hopefully I will find work so I won't need to make a claim, but it makes me feel a litter better knowing that I could claim if I really have to.

    Thank you.

    Firstly, anyone can claim.
Basicaly you could claim Income Based JSA but you will go through the hoops as your ex lives in the same house (when you say ex husband are you actually divorced???).
You won't be able to get any help towards rent as you live with your parents.

If you have to stick in a claim and answer honestly...
