Hi All.
I have bought a house and I am awaiting the missives being signed.
Our lawyers have confirmed the sellers solicitors are causing delays.
we are now at the stage where we are buying furniture. And would like to go back in to get some measurements so I know the one I have chosen will fit.
We are told we cant due to the missives not being signed! but if the hold up is at the solicitors end and we are wanting measurements to buy furniture can they stop us from getting measurements etc?
We are in Scotland any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

Your buying furniture before the missives have been signed. This is not a good idea as unless they have been signed, then the vendors can pull out, and you would have furniture for a house you do not own. Surely you can wait until they have been signed before buying anything?0

I guess!! I dont see there being any issues as they have purchased a new property and I think they have now moved in as the house is currently empty. we move in 12 weeks and we have been quoted up to 16 weeks for delivery so I thought the sooner the better.
Thanks for your help0 -
It's quite normal not to be allowed to view again until the missives are signed. They definitely can stop you - just wait until the missives are signed and take things from there. At this stage it can become a bit of a game between solicitors - unlikely that the vendor has anything to do with it.0

Or they've split up and commenced divorce proceedings, perhaps now one needs to move back or just arguing over sale. Until missives are signed, do nothing!

It's a risk buying stuff before exchange however I did and it was fine. The only thing I bought was the sofa with it being a 12 week delivery time as you've mentioned. Everything else you NEED you can get within a day or 2 really.0

I know the house is being sold due to a split so maybe that is the reason! the only thing I am concerned about is the sofa etc!! everything else can be sorted in the weeks before!!
I may just bide my time until the missives are signed... Thanks all : D
