I was advised against a run like that. But if you say so you must be correct.

does he have a secondary circuit?
  • you have a dishwasher going in, realistically how much hot water are you gonna use from the kitchen sink tap, personally i wouldn't worry about it
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

As above, you will probably only need kitchen sink hot water for hand washes, floor mopping or the odd item which can't be machine washed.

We've just had our kitchen moved out into extension and the run for hot water is now a good 10+ meters, we haven't had any bother with it. As others have said I only need it for cleaning really and sometimes when I rinse plates before loading. Even so the hot water doesn't take that long to get there, definitly less than 30 seconds anyway, and we've not noticed any difference in use of oil.

My boiler is about 12 meters away from the kitchen tap. With a cold boiler it needs 15 litres of water run through the tap before hot, not warm, water comes out. With a hot boiler it takes about 10 litres. Unless there is hot water already in the pipe the dishwasher will be using the cold water already in the pipe and leaving the heated water between the boiler and dishwasher.
A dishwasher with cold fill only will cost the same to heat the water as an electric water heater with no wasted hot water.
