Flooring woes...

flooringsupplies.co.uk (found it recommended in a Guardian article from 2009) seems to have good prices. I've been looking at the kahr in particular, decent bulk discount for over 60 sqm (thank god as I need like 65 sqm)
I'm still researching kahr quality but I can't find a bad review at all, just need to find a local stockist so I can see it up close.0 -
You can order free samples from flooringsupplies.co.uk
They sent me a few samples of Quickstep Lagune http://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/laminate/5590/quickstep_lagune_grey_teak_ur1205_laminate_flooring
Went for the grey in our bathroom and it looks great. Excellent customer service and the best price I could find. Other companies on the face of it looked cheaper but then added VAT and delivery.0 -
Thank you for the replies, do you find the quickstep laminate cold underfoot? Noisy at all when walking on it? I imagine as it's downstairs it would only really be high heels that are noisy, and as people should take their shoes off at the door anyway (!), that shouldn't really be a problem. OH is most concerned about how 'warm' it is.
Keep being put off vinyl planks by reading how the floor must be 100% perfect, ideally the only prep I want to do is lay underlay. Second question - are underlay boards or the roll out foam better?0 -
Our daughter has the stuff scottishblondie has, it is laid over a foam underlay (from Ikea, £15 for a 15 sq m roll) on a concrete floor.
OH laid it, he undercut the doorframes/facings but otherwise laid it with a 3-4mm gap to skirtings and sealed the edges with silicone.
It is over the entire ground floor.....kitchen/diner, utility, W.C., hallway and living room, about 50 sq m, continuous area. He laid it diagonally, to avoid any problems with squint walls, and it looks really nice.
A bit of extra cutting on the edges, but surprisingly little waste. She ordered 10% over the neat area, but had about 3 sq m left over.0 -

I don't find the Quickstep any colder than wood, and it's definitely warmer than ceramic. It's scratch resistant too, which wood isn't. As for noise, again no difference to wood and it does all depend on what you've got on your feet.0 -
Cross posted - thanks jellie
Thank you jennifernil, that's really good to know, after a lot of research over this weekend I am veering towards that flooring, that's a great price too!0 -
Thank you, i'll have a closer look at that, that looks like what I was originally after, like the Moduleo but much cheaper! Moduleo is 4.5mm thick with a wear layer of 0.4mm and your one is 4mm thick with a wear layer of 0.3mm so not much difference.
You're probably sorted by now but incase anyone else is looking for feedback. We had Moduleo installed. We have Transform and Select installed and from this I can tell you that the difference between 0.3 & 0.4 mm is massive. It makes a huge difference to the sturdiness and wear of the floor.
I can also confirm that you need an awesome fitter for it. We had a terrible supplier and fitter. They did nothing to prep our floor, supplied less than the necessary baseboard for it to sit on and then fitted that and the tiles badly. We have tiles lifting and bouncing. We are still fighting with the company so resolve the issues. Sadly this company were recommend on Moduleo's website and still are. :mad:0
