We had a leak in our roof into the loft. We contacted a roofer who came out to inspect it and the problem was the lead around the chimney and the chimney pots needed replacing.

The guy was very busy but eventually came round about 2 weeks later with another roofer and they completed the job within an hour.

Total cost £350 + VAT

During the recent storms a ridge tile blew off the roof. It is not damaged it just needs replacing and securing.

Cost £50 + VAT

Any comments appreciated.

We had similar - lead flashing damaged in a storm and caused water damage and a couple of tiles needing replacing. Insurance company settled at £750 for the claim (including redecoration of ceilings in our top bedroom) and the roofer charged £500 - it took him half a day from what I recall but my husband said he always got a higher wage when working as a roofer so he judged it was a fair quote.

Seems pretty reasonable and around the price we paid to have our roof, flashings and pots patched up a few years back.
