  • Anyway, it turns out they got my estimated meter reading completely wrong and they think I've used about 450kwh more than I have.......

If your bills were based on estimates over 18 months and the correct figure comes in 450 kwh beneath, then the actual estimate is pretty accurate. 450 kwh over in 18 months means your were using some 6 kwh per week less than estimated (or depending on your tariff, about £ 1.00 per week); which is hardly a wild overestimate.
  • Thanks bluebirdman, when I say shout I mean more vented my frustration, my "shouting" is probably nothing compared to some people lol but if I've offended any CSA's I sincerely apologise :)

. You are being ridiculous and unreasonable.

Nada, do you work for a REC? I only ask as you are here so often, and I have never yet noticed you give a sympathetic reply to a consumer's problem.

I'd agree a lot of people could help themselves by checking consumption a lot more frequently. I do so on a weekly basis, but then, I used to work for a REC.:D
  • Definitely all sorted now, just chased up Npower for my new bill after I gave them the meter reading, my £145 under payment bill from July is all settled due to my lower than estimated meter reading, and my bill now won't be £60 a month, it's £25 a month fixed until June 2015, yay! :j

I'm going to check my meter readings monthly from now on and make sure if I need to up my bill I will, although they said that £145 debit is now actually a £38.47 credit which should cover any changes in my usage over the winter months.

    Incorrect.

Your unit price will be fixed until June 2015 but if you use more or less energy than projected then the DD amount will go up or down accordingly.

nPower will reassess your DD every 6 months and you'll get a statement so you know what the figures are.

That's the theory anyway, reality is you can expect anything or nothing from nPower.
