ear drops - dogs

  • My dog, different breed had the same issue. I brought some ear drops from Wilkinsons called Beaphar I think. Worked a treat!
  • We have been using johnsons ear drops but it is distressing for muttley, so we have purchased some thornit powder and muttley was much happier in having this put on his ears.

Reading the instructions it can also be used once a week as a preventative

Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.
  • Thornits ear powder here too for the springer:D
  • I have a cav thankfully mine has never had an ear infection. Make sure the ears can get air to them. You can get their ears plucked which removes the hair from the ear close to eardrum. I would get a groomer to do it. I tried myself and it was hard so I get our groomer to do it now.

Also have a look at this video, its from a Cav groomer/breeder who has been grooming cavs for about 40 years so knows his stuff.
He mentions using surgical spirit or any ear cleaning product you may find on animeddirect or so on or at your vets, with a cotton wool pad and just cleaning the outside of ear weekly, don't put anything down the ear. If they have an ear infection suggests like everyone else thornit.

    .

If they have an ear infection , they need the vet and not home remedies.

My dog had brown gunk in his ears and wouldn't stop scratching. Trip to vet who sais they were badly impacted and Harry would need them syringing and antibiotics. £250 later he's fine!!! Don't assume the brown gunk is not infection, in Harry's case it was. He now has the cleanest ears ever!!!
Living life with a crazy dog!!!
