lease hire van

Hello,
was after a bit of advice please, my partner is self employed and has a lease hire van that is a 4 year lease. We have had it 1 year in March. We have just been told the company he gets his work through has lost their contract. Is there a way of getting out of the lease. He might have something else he could do as work but it would not be self employed, and although we would be able to cope with our bills we would not be able to afford the £50 a week for the van.
We only took the van as was told we had a 6 years worth of work, we were only told this when they said he would need a van but seeing as they no longer have the contract they have nothing for him now.

You would have to contact the lease company. Generally there is a termination fee payable on early release of the vehicle and I'm afraid you would need to pay this.
You may also be able to speak to the company who have contracted out to him. They may help with the termination costs?0 -
Do you mean the dealership may help, not sure they would. The company he got his work through say he is self employed so its his problem. Thanks for any help and advice given

No I don't think the dealership would help at all, apart from the early termination fee I'm afraid. They may allow this to be paid in a certain number of payments as opposed to a one of payment.
As for the company he got his work from, was there anything in writing about it being 6 years worth of work? Even if not, it may be worth asking if they would help with this, or perhaps take over the lease? If not it's one I think you would need to chalk up to experience.0 -
where has the contract gone, that's one potential route do the same job with the new contract holder0
