have just spotted the typo in the title: face PANTING! :rotfl:
Yes...I know! I spotted that after I posted it, but couldn't correct it!
Maybe a "face panting" business would bring in more money? The wife could sit a client on a chair, take her pants and...ummmm...perhaps on second thoughts we'll give it a miss!

I've heard there are people who pay good money for that:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Yes...I know! I spotted that after I posted it, but couldn't correct it!

Hi everyone. I have been directed to this post via Facepaintingchat.co.uk which is a face painting forum.
I am also a member of FACE the Face painting association. (www.facepaint.co.uk)
FACE have for many years been trying to educate the public with reguard to face painting, in a safe and hygienic way, hense protecting the child being painted as well as the painter. Face members have to have public liability cover and we would strongly advocate that anyone painting anyone other than their own children does the same. Some people do go out and buy a small kit.. one sponge and a paintbrush and asume they can then go off and paint. Please think before you do that. There are many germs that can be passed from child to child by using the same sponge on each child, as well as using dirty water and kit. Please read the info on the FACE painting association website, or the facepaintingchat.co.uk forum or FPI (face painting information). It is not a make money quick option if you are putting childrens health at risk... but there are ways of doing it correctly and making money too. Good luck with the venture...but please do it with knowledge.0 -
As previous people have said it is a good business to be in but only if you do it properly. Just buying paints and going out will land you in all sorts of trouble not to mention the disappointed children when they can't recognise what you have painted them as! It's not as easy as it looks and many professional painters have trained for many years to get to a good standard.
With regard to CRB checks it's not necessary as you are not a child entertainer and will not be left alone with the child. If you are self employed you cannot get one anyway. If people/potential employers insist on you having one I would suggest you instead get them to sign a disclaimer saying you will not be left alone with the child.0 -
Re CRB checks .... unfortunately, I think you will be at a disadvantage if you are not CRB checked. Many organisers have a charter/code of practice that states that they will only use contractors who are CRB checked, even if they will not be alone with the children.
I am a Parish Council Clerk and we have a playing field. We recently applied for a grant to develop part of the field as a community garden, to help kids understand where food comes from. One of the conditions of the grant was that we agreed that anyone involved with anything to do with kids' activities on the field would be CRB checked. This includes the guy who runs the local football team, even though the parents are on the touchline!!!!!
So, if you were to do face painting at the local school summer fete, chances are they want you to be CRB checked - but then, it's likely they'll conduct the check on you anyway.
Any organiser of an event which is likely to attract children is likely to want you to be CRB checked - it's just another example of the "blame culture" that we live in

Or, if they insist, they should apply
