OS Thread Wednesday 26th February 2014

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 26th February 2014. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Does anyone want a very naughty westie doggy?
No excuses for her bad behaviour tonight ! She is not ill or hungry just wanted the fire on - tinker!!!

Her B12 has worked (fingers crossed) and not tummy troubles (double fingers crossed and touch wood) although she has to have weekly injections. I remember I felt like a new woman after my first and I think Molly feels like a pup again. Going to have to get tough and do controlled crying with her again:o

Anyways Im going to read back now and send loads of OS hugs and love for OS days xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Chilly and clear here and can see the moon and a couple of stars. I would love to live somewhere where I could see lots of stars every night, we have the perfect loft window for a telescope but far too many street lights to make it worth while.

YS salmon and bean sprouts with Chinese leaves for dinner, still on cold omelettes for lunches but am getting fed up so need to find a plan b.

Molly - She may be naughty and a tinker but it's lovely to hear about the "puppy" being well! How are you and how are your sons?

Julie - how is your leg healing after the abscess? Have you finished antibiotics now?

Better get a move on so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa each, the car will need scraping before I set off.
Molly, glad to hear that Molly is feeling well, hope things are getting better all round for you.
LW, sorry to hear the CAMRA meeting was not good.
Busy day at work y'day, someone lost 300 flyers that I'd printed & folded so I had to redo them in a hurry. Two people are off sick, one with a cold, one with stress. I shall get a bo££ocking today as I printed something, I was asked to do it because someone else was 'too busy' ie being difficult, so I decided to help, I knew there would be trouble, well bring it on, I'm in the mood to fight this morning.
I heard from DD1 yesterday, the twins are a pigeon pair, one of each, so on with the knitting & crochet.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,

Brrrr cold here this morning feels really wintery. I am off to work will drop dd at the station on my way.

Thanks for the good wishes re little dog, its nothing nasty just some kind of fatty lump, they cant operate because she is diabetic and wounds don't heal well for diabetics. so she will just have to live with it, its not causing her any pain and if it starts to they will give her pain killers, so good news really.

Going to shove a chicken casserole on the sc this morning and a quorn one for dd, that will be nice when we get in tonight, will just have to cook some rice quickly.

    Have good days all xx

  • Good morning chums, dry and promising at the moment here in north Kent.
We came third in the pub quiz last night so we seem to be consistant at least :):)
U3A luncheon was nice yesterday and during it in the restarunt a very large and cheery lady appeared.it was Rustie Lee from TV who had arrived to do some filming there. She was very jolly and wished us all a good lunch and said how nice to see us all having such a good time:):)A real ray of sunshine bless her.

Today I have the diet nurse at the clinic, another nice lady, who weighs me monthly to make sure I stick to my diet plan.Seems to be working at the moment as I have lost over two stone in 5 months.

I must tell you about a bit of luck that came my DGS way last Saturday,DD had rang to ask if I fancied going to Herne Bay with her and the boys and the dogs, and as it was a bright and sunny day I said yes ,so off we went.Well we walked along the beach and the youngest lad had his small scooter with him.Herne Bay Pier has been re-opened up a bit so we walked on to the end with the kids and dogs.My eldest DGS Ben borrowed Mikey's scooter to have a go on and DD and I were laughing at him as he is such a skinny lanky lad of just under 6ft on his little brothers scooter when he suddenly bent down and picked something up from the ground. He scooted over to us and said Look Mum at what I've found. There screwed up in his hand was a currency note.DD opened it up and it was a 50 pound note !!!. We weren't too sure if it was a real one or not as we haven't seen many. There was no one else on the pier at the time so were wern't sure what to do.We walked back onto the beach front still not too sure .There was no one around who even looked as though they were looking for anything so DD said well take it into a bank on Monday and find out if its a genuine one or not.Well I did and it was. They changed it up for me and I gave it to Ben when he came home from school. One very happy young man on Monday night. He has put it away towards his holidays .
It seemed such a lot of cash to find ,but there it was all screwed up like a discarded tissue. Even the lady at the bank said not much else to do with it, but I was glad we checked it was real first.I didn't want him th try to spend it if it was a 'dodgy' one .What would you have done in the same circumstances ??
Well time to get a wriggle on
    Take care everyone

Good find for Ben JackieO! I think I would have kept it too if there was no-one about.
Glad to hear Molly dog is feeling better! I think you need to get her a coat!!!
Also pleased to hear that Redruby's little dog will be ok.

Very windy here and wet too, hopefully the tree fellers will come back today to clear the branches.

Went to Costc0 last night, just bought what was on the list and everything was on offer so quite pleased with that.

Not much else happening, hope everyone is well. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, bright, sky looks clear, sun shining, but it looks chilly, so we’ve possibly had a frost.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk. I had salmon burgers, jacket potato and veg. The salmon burgers were edible but I didn’t really like them, which is unusual for me as I eat virtually any fish but they just weren’t that nice, but I know not to buy them again! Desserts were from the tins for those that wanted them. Remembered to get the pork loins out of the freezer to defrost so tonight we have pork loins, mash, veg and gravy.

Work yesterday was another strange day, really busy or dead, will see what today brings. I’m only working until lunchtime then working Saturday morning and then off until Monday. Someone wanted to have Saturday off and so I said I’d help them out and work for them. We’re busy with caravan stuff at weekends from Sunday so won’t be doing any more for a good while. I think my next one is the Saturday of Easter weekend, I was rota’d to do it and of course no-one wants to do it so I have to work but not expecting it to be very busy as it’s a big holiday weekend.

Payday today, so when I get home later I’ll be doing my normal paying of bills etc, and will be paying something off the cc from the extra money I’ve earned doing extra hours. Have just checked the bank and the extra hasn’t paid me as much as I’d hoped after tax and ni etc, but at least it’s something extra and I’ve still got a job which loads of people haven’t so I shouldn’t complain.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Looking forward to today as mum and dad are coming over as it's their 48th Wedding Anniversary today so we are going out for lunch.
For once the sun is shining. Let's hope it lasts. It feels very spring like.
TTFTM thanks for asking, yes it's healed fingers crossed, anti biotics done so hopefully will continue to mend. Major problems with the other leg and hip but I've decided that these are health problems that are long term and I'm just going to get on with it and live the best way I can. I'm not aiming for any more major ops in the near future but I know it will have to be done eventually. There are people with much bigger problems.
Anyway better get on and in the shower, have a good day all x

    Hi everyone,

JackieO, I would have done the same, my late M-I-L would have given it to charity.

I felt a bit better yesterday and managed to give the kitchen a good going over, I'm hoping to do the bathrooms today though I feel tired again. Oh well, two steps forward and one back, at least I'm making a bit of progress.

Molly I'm glad Mollydog is feeling better, I hope you feel a bit better too.

It's been quiet on the daily the past few days, I hope everyone is off enjoying half term.
