We've skirted this topic before, but now a piece of research has attempted to test whether houses in streets with rude sounding names are actually cheaper than comparables, and it seems they are:

No sign of Hornyold Road in Malvern, or my personal favourite, Scumbrum Lane in High Littleton.
At the behest of the Council, the PO has just altered my address, to my mind making it more attractive, but to be honest, the old name wasn't a problem.
Would MSEers consider a dodgy address if they could shave a few % off the otherwise 'unsullied' price of their next property?
Or put it another way, is there anywhere you wouldn't live because of the name?
I must admit I wouldn't be too delighted living in S!!!!horpe, the place that cannot be named on MSE!

There used to be a street near me that was called "Butt Hole Road". Hilarious to all those travelling past it and some even went that extra mile and immortalised the sign by mooning next to it and taking a photo.
Understandably, the people who lived on Butt Hole Road got a bit arsey (lol) and asked to have the name changed. It was changed to something slightly more appropriate.
Sad times. I did feel bad for the residents though.

But after complaints from we rural folk, 'cockerel' was allowed.

I remember having to compose myself a while back in the office, when a lease with the name "Pump bottom" appeared on my desk.0

Nope...I wouldn't be concerned. I'd possibly prefer a "better" name...but it certainly wouldn't put me off at all, because that would be illogical.
What WOULD put me off are logical factors like the road being known as a "troublespot area" or being an ugly/rundown location.
The location factors that concerned me when buying my current house were: safe from floods/reasonable area/reasonable-looking area/quiet enough for me personally/convenient enough for me. Now those sort of factors make sense. Not that I would have the foggiest idea what my road name means anyway...as it's in Welsh LOL.0 -
