Indeed but you describe your father as "struggling with arthritis" and seem to think that his condition is worsened by the job he does?
Will the arthritis actually get better? I thought it was a chronic condition? And if he does indeed improve, will he not relapse immediately he returns to the work that exacerbates his problem?
If he wishes to continue to work, could he not find less physically arduous employment?
Yes I can see where you are coming from as we are in no doubt that the years upon years of walking in and around the hospital has contributed to his condition. A less arduous job for a 68 year old? licking stamps maybe? lol Can I just point out that in the dads work the employee with the best sickness record is a man aged 70!! ...he also holds the record for working the longest shift (24hrs) Thanks for all the replies everyone, i now have the info that I need.CHAMPAGNE TASTE.....LEMONADE MONEY

This is irrelevant to your father's case! It would appear that your father does not have the best sickness record and that the job he is doing is damaging his health.
Even if your father were much younger, if the work he did exacerbated a physical disability, he would be well advised to give up that job and look for other employment?
Indeed, under such conditions he might well have qualified for an early retirement pension on the grounds of ill-health!
Age can have little to do with requiring work that is not physically taxing?A less arduous job for a 68 year old?0
