Solid wall insulation funding - confused!!
Hi - first time poster here!
I own a mid-terrace, 1860s home which has solid brick walls. I'm thinking of going for solid wall insulation - I don't mind losing a slight portion of internal floor area, as my rooms are decently sized.
However, I'm becoming confused and frustrated trying to work out how I could get this funded through the Green Deal and/or Energy Company Obligation.
I am not on any qualifying benefits and my house is *just* outside of the qualifying low income area boundary. However, I understand that 'hard to treat' insulation measures like solid wall insulation are available to everyone, regardless of income.
Has anyone managed to get funding through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) for solid wall insulation? Who did you apply to, how much did you get and did you think it was worth it?
I have limited funds to put in up front so am unlikely to be able to self-fund the insulation.

External insulation is the preferred option with solid walls because it is less likely to cause timber rotting. You have to be extremely careful doing anything internally! I considered it but wouldn't take the risk.
My mid terrace was externally insulated last year under ECO.
The energy companies only work in low income areas because more people are likely to take up the offer than if they have to pay for it. It can be expensive, mine was quoted as about £5500. They only do a limited amount of properties as well in order to meet their obligations, however they can sell the carbon credits for any extra work they do.
If there are no energy companies doing work in your area then it is very difficult getting work done. I looked and found nothing except for some rubbish, thin (10mm) insulation rolls sold by the energy savings trust.0
