Check if your children's school offers a school bank. I believe HSBC does one, however, I run a natwest school bank at the school where I teach. It gives a cashcard with a solo facility; the ability to top up their mobiles via a cash machine and a decent rate of interest.

The main advantage is that your child can take money into school on school bank days and pay in using a paying in book. Also pupils are trained by natwest to be tellers, managers etc. It's easier to open an account as the school verify the address so no need for bills and stuff.

If they don't already run this facility why not suggest it to either the business studies or work related learning dept?

Also natwest do a good education package for children

Really worthwhile and the kids enjoy it.:j

I would personally recommend the Nationwide Smart Account.

Excellent rate of interest, link cashcard with £100 withdrawal limit.

They offer mobile topups and internet access too, if you'd be happy with that.

It might be also worth checking other Building Societies such as Yorkshire or Britannia as they both offer competitive saving accounts with atm cards.
