Car insurance cashback with outstanding claim

Currently looking to change insurer but have an outstanding claim which could go either 50/50 or not my fault.

When trying to get cashback one has to complete the application totally on-line so have to use the lower no claims bonus etc I.e. assume the claim will not go in my favour.

When changing insurance company with an outstanding claim they should refund the difference when the prove of a reinstated no claim bonus is given but does this have to be negotiated at the time of taking out the insurance.

So question is how best to try to get cashback and ensure a reduced premium should the claim be found to be not my fault.

Yes, prior to buying the policy you need to get the new insurer to agree to refund any premium amendment if you get your NCD rerinstated during the policy year.

Can't see a way to do this in conjunction with a cashback site.

A suggestion is to buy your policy from the cashback site, (ensuring you can cancel without charge - some insurers do charge cancellation fees even if the policy hasn't yet started), then ring them once the transaction is complete and see what they will agree to.

If successful in your request, ask them to confirm this in writing.

    If unsuccessful, cancel.
