Can some one answer a couple of questions for me:
These extreme couponers who stock pile 100's of an item, how do they get so many coupons for the product.
Also do they only buy what the coupon is for, say in Tesco or are they giving a pile to the cashier to scan at the end.
Jill
Are you talking about american TV or UK couponers? Tesco will only accept items that have been bought with a valid coupon, anything else gets rejected. Asda now refuse to accept most coupons unless manufacture issued and even then can be funny. Sainsburys have a list of forged coupons from eBay.
Probably PDF coupons in multiples.0 -
In the Daily Mail last week there was awoman who had a garage full of items. So did she have a coupon for each one bought?0

one thing I will say about the media, they exaggerate what is told to them, they will edit and reword things told to them, just to make a story that will sell the paper.
there is an mser on mse who was on tv a few years ago for her "extreme couponing" and she told us that some things quoted were taken out of context, she hadn't said it the way it was portrayed. They edited the tv programme and made her look bad, when it wasn't the way it was shown on tv.
don't take everything you read on tv and see in the papers as given, I would take it with a vat of salt.
the woman in the paper may have bought the items on offer, so may have been a bogof - buy one get one free, and had vouchers that covered the purchase of one. She may have bought items using pdf coupons, which can be printed again and again until expiry date. She probably did the shops over several shops or days, rather one big shop.
And she may have bought stuff on whoopise, when it is reduced by the supermarket at the end of the day.
I haven't seen it so can't tell you without seeing the items.
but as I said, don't believe everything you read/see. And for papers/tv shows people are asked to gather lots of coupons which they shouldn't be using in one go, on one shop, just for the media coverage.0 -
I came across an app for the phone called CheckOutSmart - supermarket rewards and was wondering if anyone uses this and is it any good? Seems that you receive a list of items and it you buy any of them you load your receipt to claim back the money back. Why I am asking is that the money will be received in my bank account or paypal, so before I give out my details, I would like to hear from others who use it. Thank you.0

I use this app and have been paid by them previously. Some ok offers in general and sometimes they offer freebies (i.e. you receive cashback for the full price of the item). I would say it's worth signing up.
There's a thread for a few cashback sites/apps for grocery items (see link below), Checkoutsmart is not in the heading but offers are sometimes posted for the various sites/apps including Checkoutsmart. The thread seems to be used less these days but still useful to keep an eye on.

I've been using this app for couple of months so don't have enough to withdraw free yet (£20) but some good freebies and offers although I find I earn more from Shopitize and have received several payments from them with no problems. Well worth doing IMO0 -
Thank you so much for the advise. I will have a look in to the other app as well.0

Before all the extreme couponing stuff became popular over here, we used to have loads more coupons. Now that the media has covered it to death and tried to make it look like the USA, the coupons have dried up. Last time I posted on here was about 14 months ago when a new poster was going to invest in a new printer for couponing and I told him/her not to bother. And I was right!0
