Old Style Daily Thread Tuesday 25th February

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Off to work finish around 6 tonight, DH will make tea .
Both DDs are poorly dd2 is full of cold and has been up most of the night , dd1 seems really poorly though , a chest infection I think and a temperature , she rang the drs yesterday and was told they didn't have any appointments until next week  she's ill for goodness sake! Makes me so angry , she's a hundred miles away and I feel awful that she's on her own. She's going to ring as soon as it opens this morning . I've told her to ask for an urgent appointment if she can't get a normal one .
Cold pizza for lunch. Waste not want not
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning chums just getting light and looking a bit damp outside at the moment.
Nice night at DDs for DGS Jacks birthday.Had a HM curry and the boys had pizza. When its their birthday they get to choose what they fancy for dinner, and pizza was Jacks choice.Grown ups had a chicken curry:) DD had made a nice chocolate cake so I just had to have a small slice (be rude not to I thought
:):))
Today will be a busy one, I have a coffee morning followed by Luncheon club then tonight I have the pub quiz so my feet will be twinkling today as I rush from one venue to another:):)
Hope everyone has a good day
Cheers folks

Damp here this morning so no need to scrape the car, I feel exhausted even though I slept ok, but I had a very busy dream about trying to get to a wedding, get an outfit to wear to it & sort out a rouge elephant! No wonder I'm tired.
Fush fed, hubby & I have a cuppa each, I'll have porridge at work.
Work was very quiet y'day morning but picked up later, I hate not being busy. A new staff member didn't start y'day as expected, she told them what salary she was on & what she was looking for, they made her a job offer, but for a lot less, they just assumed she'd accept & she hasn't. What a waste of time & money, if someone tells you what salary they are looking for and say's 'There is no leeway, this is the minimum I will accept' offering 40% less isn't going to work.
I made pilchard fishcakes for my tea tonight & one for my lunch today, one of my colleagues will have cob on, she complains bitterly about food she considers unpleasant. Mind you she eats Rustlers burgers, so I tell her they are full of ground up nostrils & testicles!
I also made chocolate concrete to take to work for my colleagues, so some of them will be happy with me.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
Not raining (yet), it seems to be quite calm here for a change, good not to have that huge tree threatening me all the time!
Came home yesterday to DD stripping wallpaper, a very slow job as there are at least 4 layers and a border. I bought her a steam stripper and she was in her element. Can't be many 21 year olds who get excited over a wallpaper stripper! Made the job a lot better but it is still going to take ages. Slow and steady.
HH - I like your description, I always used to tell the kinds that hot dogs were made from lips and ears but yours is better!
Tea last night was sausages and fried lo pots, not very healthy but tasty all the same.
Off to Costc0 tonight so will probably eat there. Washing up to date, DW will go on before I leave.
Welcome Newthrift, enjoy your busy day JackieO. Take care all. XX0 -
Morning all,
Looks like its going to be a nice day here, I am off to work and will drop dd and the dog off first.
Got to take little dog to the vets tonight she as a lump on her leg which the vet has already seen and told us it was ok, but its grown rapidly the last week and she is trying to bite it, so off to the vets I think she will have to have an op to remove it.
DD will do dinner while we are at the vets, it will be the fajitas from last night, dd treated us to a naughty fish and chips, very nice too.
Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer.
Sistercas I hope your dd's feel better soon xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy and overcast, wet underfoot, although not raining now, still blustery too.
DH up and gone to work early, but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, veg and gravy. Treats from the tins for those that had room. Tonight it’s an easy fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I will have a plain fish fillet or a salmon fishcake (hadn’t seen them before as a new product, so got some to see what they’re like) jacket potato and veg.
Work yesterday was a strange day, loads of people waiting when we opened the doors, sorted all of those out, and it went completely dead, then all of a sudden we were packed out again and had loads of people waiting ages to be seen, then it went dead again and busy again, then eased off just before we closed – strange day but I couldn’t believe how quickly the afternoon went, first time I looked at my watch it was nearly 3.3.0pm. Not sure what today will bring.
After dinner tonight we must continue with sorting out DH’s paperwork – started this on Sunday, have shredded loads, but now just need to sort into various files so he can find documents if he needs to. He’s completely useless at any kind of admin, so having to find an “idiots guide” way to do it! I’m also fed up of having piles of his papers just laying around in the house – I have no issues with him being involved but I do have issues with his “stuff and papers” laying around my home. At present I have a stack of boxes of promo info in my porch making that area nearly unusable because there are so many – we have nowhere else to put them, so can’t wait for March to be done, then majority of them will be gone and what’s left can go in the loft, there’s too many to put in the loft at present though.
Need to crack on, and see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Hugs to Ruby doggie's lump. Pops had one similarly and it was a cyst so try not to worry xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
I have a bitty day today with jobs round the house, plus a few 'messages' to do too. Ironing will also be involved .
I must return my blue badge today as I do not qualify under the new regulations; my mobility remains the same but the Rules have changed. I'm being re-assessed for my concessionary bus pass too - I might be able to keep it as the rules are different. Fingers crossed - it's a few years till I'm 60.
Dinner tonight is something meaty as it is a red day; we have fat club tomorrow and I hope to have lost at least half a pound to reach my first stone - just in time to put it on again on holiday:o.
Time for my cup of tea - I'm early this morning!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Good Morning Everyone!
Thank you for the welcome's camelot1001 and TTFTM
I have work until 5pm, very steady with not a lot to do so dragging rather slowly, so much I could be doing at home, but never mind.
Looking forward to tea tonight, fish and chips - homemade though - yum yum!
Hope everyone has a lovely day, and those of you with busy days make sure you grab a tea or coffee with something sweet to keep you going
Speaking of which I'm off to pop the kettle on.
Happy Tuesday everyone:jChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
